Jonas Becker

Jonas was born in 1950 in Zürich, Switzerland, to Simon and Ursula Becker. Simon was a watchmaker; Ursula cared for Jonas full-time after being forced out of employment upon their marriage, a reality common to women of her generation. The family emigrated to the United States in the early 1960s.

Jonas trained as an electrician and spent three decades working on commercial and corporate buildings across King County, Washington, living in Bellevue. Over those years, he found himself in the right rooms at the right times, overhearing conversations between executives and professionals that led him to invest in companies that simply sounded worth believing in: Costco and Microsoft in the 1980s, Amazon and Starbucks in the 1990s. Not every bet paid off, but the ones he did were good ones.

He retired and established Ursustone Capital, named for his mother, Ursula Stone Becker, who passed away around the turn of the century at age 70. The name carries both her memory.

In 2009, Jonas relocated from Washington State to Henderson, Nevada, where he continues to manage his personal portfolio. He enjoys soccer (his club is Bayern Munich), golf, and volunteering. He does not use a phone.
